What is Lipoma?

A Lipoma is a non-cancerous, soft, fatty lump that forms just beneath your skin. It’s the most common type of soft tissue tumor. While Lipomas are usually painless and harmless, they can be a cause of concern due to their appearance or location.

What are the Causes Lipomas?

Though exact cause of lipomas are not known. Lipomas are caused by an excessive localized growth of fat cells.

A lipoma's interior is made up of fat cells organized in an expanded pattern and encased in a fibrous capsule.

How to get rid of Lipomas?

Lipoma removal procedures are safe and effective, and you can usually go home the same day. As an alternative to lipoma surgery, your provider may recommend liposuction to remove the lipoma.

If a lipoma is left untreated for a long time, it will continue growing. The growth happens gradually and there is a possibility that the lump will grow around nerves and blood vessels. Treatment of large sized lipoma is difficult. 

Though every surgeries have some complications. Lipomas removal may also have  certain complications most commonly include hematoma, followed by seroma, ecchymosis, infection, deformity, injury to adjacent structures, excessive scarring and fat embolus.

Even though these therapies are used in Ayurvedic medicine, it’s crucial to remember that  there isn’t any proof that they can treat lipomas.
